BIOGRAPHY
Christian originates from Hyde, Greater Manchester and has been songwriting since starting ‘accidentally’ in 1996 whilst humming along to a few chords that he was messing about with on his newly-purchased acoustic guitar. Words followed (thankfully) and a song was written - but he admits he’d no real intention of doing anything with it at that stage - it was something to play in the house - “three chords with some thoughts sung over the top“.
A week later, he was press-ganged by friends into performing this one and only song “no connection” at The Witchwood, Ashton-under-Lyne - he‘d only gone inside to watch some acoustic acts (and have a pint). “I was really nervous and had never played publicly or even sung into a microphone before, but after one false start, I was away. It felt incredible once I’d whacked out that last chord without suffering a mental block - or a heart attack!“. The audience cheered and applauded loudly “out of friendship, drunkenness, astonishment, politeness or appreciation- who knows!” Whatever the reason, he’d graduated from ‘bedroom blaster’ to fledging acoustic performer–and it felt GOOD.
A few weeks later, Christian moved to Newcastle to study for a Zoology degree, where more songs and many more gigs followed. His appearances at a series of nights at the North Terrace pub in Newcastle led to the formation of Newcastle alternative rockers “Columbus Dixon” with Christian at the helm.
